De Gay ..... We Ez So So Vain

While some have found this article disturbing as to what can be inferred and now somewhat studied in regards to gay and bi men when it comes to body image, I found it a bit amusing because, well, been there done that.

Back in the 70's when I first started going to gay bars, body image wasn't all that important although men with beard or mustache (I had a beard) were sought after, in fact bears (as in the photo not of today's older nor fat type) were prized trophies.

Those who were all self-obsessed with their body image the collective we called body queens. And because they wouldn't give the time of day to those who were not the same they often became the butt of jokes. Seeing them strut in, looking at themselves in the mirrors that usually were on one or more walls in the bar and ever touching and fixing their hair in the bathroom, often they ended up leaving strutting out as they came in.

In one bar which I frequented in nearby New York State in the juke box was always kept Carly Simon's song Your So Vain. After a body queen would come in and start doing his usual struting around like a male peacock for a clone of himself, someone, often me, would put a quarter in the juke and Carly would start singing. If the body queen didn't get the message many of us would start to sing along while looking and pointing at this intruder to our turf. Eventually he'd get the point and leave often yelling expletives at us.

Into the 80's body image style changed and then more and more of de gay pumped up, beards (I still kept mine) lost favor and an increase of Bic razors and shaving creme were being bought and parts of the body once unknown to razor burn were assaulted.

I myself eventually got into the pumping up to some extent but never contributed to the coffers of razor blade nor shaving creme manufacturers. As I got older I did learn a thing or two about pumping up and something I'd like to share with all of those today who are into the all important body image of "what makes de perfect gay".

There will come a time in your life when things unpump or if still pumping after a particular age you look absolutely ridiculous with an older man's body with very grizzly and drooping chest muscles. Those pecs you're so damn proud of and can bounce in tandem or singularly will become man boobies and those abs will become more the shape of a keg rather than a six pack.

While even for myself it has taken a while, long while to age with dignity and grace and yes I still have periods of "I use to look like that" moments, my maturity of mind does set in. There was a time I wore a Speedo and a man's version of a thong for a jock strap. But today I know better than to try to relive my youth because the same "built as a brick house" bod just ain't there anymore. And I'm sorry but I do laugh at those who still try after they get into their 40's and beyond.

So body queens enjoy your spectacular bods while you're young. But remember it eventually does come to an end once age and gravity takes over and you have boobies and a gut. Then try to age gracefully and look forward to those who like today's version of bear.

Gay Baiting The LGBT Press

All too often the LGBT press, bloggers and elites help to give too much publicity and sometimes in error to Conservatives and Christian Fundamentalists.

Case in point over in the UK as reported by Martin Pendergast for The Guardian UK the gay baiting by fundamentalists who sent out press releases in regards to boycotting Tesco for its support of Pride London and World Pride.

As Pendergast writes in part, The gay media all too readily fall into the trap set for them by the likes of the Christian Institute, or Christian Concern for Our Nation, giving wider publicity – and hence credibility – to what are often non-stories.

Since fundamentalists mount homophobically inspired boycotts at the drop of a hat, so the LGBT media should respond smartly.

One which fell for the gay bait was Pink News when they ran an article on December 23, 2011 as an "exclusive" which reads in part, Supermarket giant Tesco does not plan to sponsor Pride London again after next year, PinkNews.co.uk can confirm, only days after the Christian Institute called for shoppers to boycott the retailer.

The company, which employs nearly half a million staff, told PinkNews.co.uk its preference is to “support projects with practical benefits rather than events”, and that this applies universally across its charitable giving.

For the record as Pendergast reports Tesco rejects the claims of the Christian Institute and will continue to support and/or sponsor LGBT events.

No doubt a copy/paste frenzy took place as often happens by many who take things at face value by one of the pink press or blogs/websites without actually doing any journalistic investigation. Unfortunately this is nothing new and will continue ad nauseum by those who claim to be reliable news sites and "citizen journalists" for LGBTs as they continue the rampant publicity for anti-LGBT groups or offer up false news reports.

Journalistic credibility is sorely missing in the world of LGBTs as long as no one has to answer for their misguided and sometimes misreporting without all the facts which should be known before running a story. Journalism 101 is put on the back burner while the correct terminology of ones sexual identity is much more paramount for writers of LGBT news. To error the latter creates such an uproar the ground shakes.

Michigan's HIV Sexual Terrorist

This is David Dean Smith who can be called nothing less than a sexual terrorist as he has been attempting to infect as many men and women with HIV as he can.

While the deliberate act of infecting a person(s) with HIV/AIDS is not new, the scope and range in the number of possible victims is staggering in Smith's case.

Smith was arrested this past Friday by Michigan authorities and he claims the number of his victims may be in the thousands.

The Kent County Health Department in Michigan is encouraging anyone who believes they may have been infected by Smith to come forward. Anyone concerned that they may have been infected can call the Kent County Health Department Personal Health Services Clinic at 616.632.7171. Calls and HIV testing are confidential.

Chilly Day In LGBT Blogosphere

Well let the cat fight begin as Pam Spaulding over at Pam's House Blend has taken a pot shot at the blog/website LezGetReal over the mixed up tale earlier this year when it was "discovered" the aforementioned was run by ... hold on to your pantyhose boys and girls ... a man.

Things really get riled up in the comment section of the posting over who actually runs LezGetReal. As usual and par for the course of the so-called citizen journalist world and the cut/paste frenzy which permeates a great many of the LGBT elite blogs like so much cow manure, it is hard to determine what is or isn't the truth when it comes to LezGetReal. But then does anyone really care who is behind it if it is putting out quality content ? Frankly I believe it does a great service for the L's of the community and because it does so, sometimes without kow-towing to the blogger elites, some jealousy has been introduced by those who think only their blog or website is the place to be.

One thing Spaulding wrote in her piece of which this writer finds of great hypocritical amusement is this line, What I don’t understand is the need to blog as something/someone you are not when there is no need for secrecy or anonymity. As to why it tickles my funny bone can be found in this post by Nelson Garcia over at NG Blog.

Hypocrisy it does have an odor ... stale coffee beans.
