Rush Limbaugh Is Here to Stay

Rush Limbaugh no friend of course to LGBTs is not giving up his broadcasting soapbox and don't expect that to happen anytime soon boys and girls.

He continues to be defiant even after offering an apology of sorts to the offended Sandra Fluke.

Much has been written about the sponsors who are dropping from his show and with much gleefulness to the point many are wetting themselves over the prospect old Rush will be leaving and falling into the great abyss of broadcast nothingness.

His reaction to the exiting advertisers in a transcript from his show on Monday reads in part, The left, folks -- the media -- are giddy that some advertisers have said they're leaving the program. And I'm sorry to see 'em go. They have profited handsomely from you. These advertisers who have split the scene have done very well due to their access to you, my audience, from this program. To offer their products and services to you through this venue is the best opportunity that they have ever had to advertise their wares. Now they've chosen to deny themselves that access, and that's a business decision, and it's theirs alone to make.

For me, this program is always about you. You talk to anybody that knows me who asks me about this program, and I always say, "It's all for the audience," because if you're not there, all the rest of this is academic. This show is about you. It's not about the advertisers. I knew the political inclinations of these people. They didn't care when they were profiting -- and I didn't, either. Everybody's able to put these things aside for the sake of mutual beneficial business activity. No radio broadcast will succeed by putting business ahead of the needs of its loyal audience, and that audience is you. My success has come from you. My focus has always been, and always will be, on you.

So let me do this once more, and then we're not gonna do it again. I should not have used the language I did about Sandra Fluke. It was wrong and, despite all the theories, my apology to her was for simply using inappropriate words.

Believe me for as the ones which are dropping and running, there will be equally more waiting to come on board once all this dies down. Even as this post is being written (Monday evening) some radio stations are dropping his show according to reports.

“The most recent incident has crossed a line of decency and a standard that we expect of programming on KPUA whether it is locally produced or a syndicated program like the Rush Limbaugh show,” KPUA president Chris Leonard said in a statement. “…Regardless of one’s political views on the issue being discussed, we feel the delivery was degrading and the continued comments over several days to be egregious. As a result, we are discontinuing the Rush Limbaugh program on KPUA effective immediately.”

WBEC general manager Peter Barry told a local public radio station that Limbaugh had crossed his boundaries.

“The nature of Rush’s programming has always presented challenges for us and he’s always pushed the envelope,” he said. “But this time he’s taken it too far.”

Don't let them kid you folks, while they and possibly others in the next day or two will sound pious in their decision to no longer host Limbaugh on their airwaves, a good many of the 600 plus stations which carry his program will hang in their because Rush means revenue particularly to small and medium size markets and would be hard pressed to find a substitute program to fill the ratings and ad revenue maker which he is.

Rush is correct when he talks about "it's a business decision". For many radio stations in markets which I mentioned it's do or die as far as the bottom line on the spreadsheets is concerned. For those who might say I don't know what I'm talking about you need only read my "bio" at the top of this blog.

As one of my cuz'ins always says "this too shall pass".

After all, and without cheating and looking it up, how many of you can remember why Rick Sanchez was dropped by CNN. And don't believe all the left-wing media/blog crap either.

Why So Pissed At Kirk Cameron

Quotes from Piers Morgan interview:

"I think that it's unnatural. I think that it's detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization."

"Marriage is almost as old as dirt, and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve. One man, one woman for life till death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don't think anyone else should either. So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don't."

"As I look around I get this sinking feeling that we’re off track, that there’s something sick in the soul of our country, I examine the fruit that’s hanging on the tree of America and I can see that it’s rotting. And that concerns me deeply."

And of course that has set off a firestorm within de gay with GLAAD leading the charge ready to burn Cameron at the stake. To wit I ask where was everybody back in 2008 when Cameron did the interview below with Bill O'Reilly. I know de gay dosen't watch FOX News.

China And Tong Xing Marriage

While being gay and lesbian has been legal in China (and Hong Kong but not Macau) since 1997 there are no anti-discrimination laws on the books, although in Hong Kong transgenders can have their gender changed on most official documents, and gays and lesbians can neither adopt nor get married.

However there is a movement underway according to Derek Yiu as he has written in an article at GayStarNews to allow same-sex marriage.

Li Yinhe a researcher from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences is asking backing from members of the National People's Congress (China's parliament) who are having an annual meeting in Beijing, to support a same-sex marriage bill. This would be the fourth time Yinhe has undergone the task of bringing same-sex marriage to China.

Trying to persuade her Chinese comrades by using one-upmanship over the United States, Trying to show officials the benefits, she said Beijing can use the approval of same-sex marriage as a proof to the world its effort in protecting human rights, ‘gaining the upper hand’ against the United States, which has just allowed gays to serve openly in the army.

Unlike in Catholic countries, she argued homosexuality has never been really frowned upon in traditional Chinese culture, making it easier to protect the gay community.

From a practical point of view, Li also said the ratio of men involved in gay sex and contracted with HIV/AIDS is over 5% and rapidly rising. She believes a nod to same-sex marriage will allow quite a number of gays to establish stable relationships.

There are estimated to be between 39 to 52 million gays and lesbians in China.

Li believes same-sex marriage could help deal with and lessen over population which has faced the Asian country of over a billion people. Homosexuality has been documented and written about in Chinese literature and part of Chinese art since ancient times.

Dustin Lance Black's Play "8"

Sometimes I wonder exactly which orifice the LGBT Elite bloggers stick their collective heads and what makes for important news and information to pass along to their readers.

Not one of the usual suspects which I check daily have mentioned that last night (Saturday March 3) a live performance of the play "8" written by Dustin Lance Black and covers the Prop 8 appeal would be performed and would be available to watch live on YouTube.

If you did not get a chance to watch the event live, below is the video. It starts at the 18 minute mark with a "history foreword". I hope the video will stay available indefinitely for all to see and not "deleted" in the future. Enjoy.

Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black’s documentary play about the federal case for marriage equality will be staged in more than 17 states through November with 40 readings. The title refers to California’s Proposition 8, a successful 2008 ballot initiative which established that only marriage between a man and a woman would be recognized in the state. The proposition was later ruled unconstitutional.

Featuring an all-star cast including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Martin Sheen, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jane Lynch, Kevin Bacon and others, "8" is a play written by Academy Award winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black and directed by acclaimed actor and director Rob Reiner.

It is a powerful account of the case filed by the American Federation for Equal Rights (AFER ) in the U.S. District Court in 2010 to overturn Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment that eliminated the rights of same-sex couples to marry in the state of California. Framed around the trial's historic closing arguments in June 2010, 8 provides an intimate look what unfolded when the issue of same-sex marriage was on trial.
