The Annoying Survivor Poof

Oh great we have an opportunity to be represented as a community on the new season of Survivor and what do we get but a bitchy little queen poof.

While some will argue Colton Cumbie will make a great "villain" Colton has the worst of the anti-gay worst already writing comments on websites, in chat rooms and #survivor on Twitter about Colton and in turn us.

Here's an example of a commenter on the website Barstool Sports which had an article actually in favor of Colton and his playing the game.

Colton may be gayest guy in the world. I have nothing against gays but I have a big problem with that fuckin homo! I have no problem using every offensive hateful slur ever created on that fuckin faggot. He has no shot in hell at winning. If he does I will never watch again. If I ever see that bitch on the streets Im gay bashing him.

In a twist for those not watching, Colton is a Republican, comes from a small town in Alabama, Monroeville which claim to fame is the home town of Truman Capote (another well known but distinguished poof), has a privileged life in which as he said at Tribal Council during last night's episode, knows at least one black person, the family housekeeper and his southern racism more than came out when he found fault and dissed fellow black contestant Bill who got voted out in no small part with Colton's help.

“I’m a country club kid. I’ve never done a thing for myself in my life; I’ve always been taken care of, whether by my mom, my nanny, my boyfriend, whoever. These people are my bitches. I don’t want to do anything.”

That little piece of self-awareness from an outtake of Survivor.

Here's what Paul McKeever who lives in Canada wrote on his blog today about Colton, Colton Cumbie: even though your views are shared by a tiny minority of stuck-up, snobby, lazy, pretentious racists in America, you are everything that the world rightly hates about your country. You unjustly lower the United States of America. You lower men. You lower people who look like you. You lower homosexuals. Your country’s people, of all genetic make-ups, professions, and incomes, not only are better than you: they deserve better than you. And so does Survivor. You shame your country, and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Just what we need a racist bitchy poofy queen Republican from the South.

COLTON MEET KARMA

[ UPDATE - 3/22/12 ]

Now after writing the posting above the video one would think I'd be happy to see de bitchy Colton get his comeuppance but I'm not totally heartless.

After what I went through in 2011 with a debilitating car accident a year ago this month which required two operations on my hip (the second giving me an artificial one and I'm still getting the leg back to as near normal as possible) and then an out of the blue heart attack due to a blood clot in August I have empathy for anyone, yes even for Colton, suffering in agony from pain and the unknown of what is wrong from a medical standpoint.

For someone as immature as Colton is it must have scared the bejeebus out of him let alone the fact he may have to throw in the towel and give up his trip on the Survivor game.

Sure I would have rather seen him voted off in proper Survivor style but sometimes a higher authority has other plans even for the most miscreant of miscreants such that Colton is.

But rest assure the producers of Survivor know when they have a good thing for their show and Colton will be back to reign his terror of bullying again in another episode. The question is after being on the show and now as he awaits being on the reunion show seeing just how much regular folks "hate" him will he change and become a more gentler and kinder Colton ?

Hopefully not, as in as much as many despise him and his antics a kinder Colton would be a let down when it comes to Survivor villians and yes Colton that is what you are.

Let's just hope that he has learned some sort of lesson when it comes to bullying, much the topic these days both in school and against LGBTs.

I also hope, perhaps in vain on my part, Colton will learn of the great opportunity to break the stereotype of being a bitchy little poof and become a shining example of being LGBT one in which we as a community can root for rather than being ashamed of.

Only time will tell.

Military Service Over He Is She

The Chapel Hill News has a great article (part 1 in a series of 2) by Tammy Grubb about Sam Taylor, Army soldier, chaplain assistant and transgender woman.

There is too much to the article to give it any justice in this short posting but it and I'm sure the followup are worth a read.

Briefly Taylor's journey takes him from identifying and living as a woman then having to put that part of his life back in the closet as he serves in the Army including service in Iraq.

Re-assuming a male identity was hard, but being openly transgender isn't an option in the military, Taylor said. You live a long time in close proximity to others, and every email or Facebook comment can be scrutinized. Daily attacks only add to the stress.

Last month Tammye Nash of The Dallas Voice wrote about the lifting of Don't Ask Don't Tell allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly but with transgenders still having to stay in the closet and shadows while in military service.

“Trans people still have to be deep in the closet. They can’t talk to anyone about their lives, or they risk being discharged and getting something other than an honorable discharge,” Monica Helms added. “Because the kind of discharge you get can make a huge difference in what kind of benefits you can get.”

Helms is president and co-founder of Transgender American Veterans Association.

Rush Limbaugh Is Here to Stay

Rush Limbaugh no friend of course to LGBTs is not giving up his broadcasting soapbox and don't expect that to happen anytime soon boys and girls.

He continues to be defiant even after offering an apology of sorts to the offended Sandra Fluke.

Much has been written about the sponsors who are dropping from his show and with much gleefulness to the point many are wetting themselves over the prospect old Rush will be leaving and falling into the great abyss of broadcast nothingness.

His reaction to the exiting advertisers in a transcript from his show on Monday reads in part, The left, folks -- the media -- are giddy that some advertisers have said they're leaving the program. And I'm sorry to see 'em go. They have profited handsomely from you. These advertisers who have split the scene have done very well due to their access to you, my audience, from this program. To offer their products and services to you through this venue is the best opportunity that they have ever had to advertise their wares. Now they've chosen to deny themselves that access, and that's a business decision, and it's theirs alone to make.

For me, this program is always about you. You talk to anybody that knows me who asks me about this program, and I always say, "It's all for the audience," because if you're not there, all the rest of this is academic. This show is about you. It's not about the advertisers. I knew the political inclinations of these people. They didn't care when they were profiting -- and I didn't, either. Everybody's able to put these things aside for the sake of mutual beneficial business activity. No radio broadcast will succeed by putting business ahead of the needs of its loyal audience, and that audience is you. My success has come from you. My focus has always been, and always will be, on you.

So let me do this once more, and then we're not gonna do it again. I should not have used the language I did about Sandra Fluke. It was wrong and, despite all the theories, my apology to her was for simply using inappropriate words.

Believe me for as the ones which are dropping and running, there will be equally more waiting to come on board once all this dies down. Even as this post is being written (Monday evening) some radio stations are dropping his show according to reports.

“The most recent incident has crossed a line of decency and a standard that we expect of programming on KPUA whether it is locally produced or a syndicated program like the Rush Limbaugh show,” KPUA president Chris Leonard said in a statement. “…Regardless of one’s political views on the issue being discussed, we feel the delivery was degrading and the continued comments over several days to be egregious. As a result, we are discontinuing the Rush Limbaugh program on KPUA effective immediately.”

WBEC general manager Peter Barry told a local public radio station that Limbaugh had crossed his boundaries.

“The nature of Rush’s programming has always presented challenges for us and he’s always pushed the envelope,” he said. “But this time he’s taken it too far.”

Don't let them kid you folks, while they and possibly others in the next day or two will sound pious in their decision to no longer host Limbaugh on their airwaves, a good many of the 600 plus stations which carry his program will hang in their because Rush means revenue particularly to small and medium size markets and would be hard pressed to find a substitute program to fill the ratings and ad revenue maker which he is.

Rush is correct when he talks about "it's a business decision". For many radio stations in markets which I mentioned it's do or die as far as the bottom line on the spreadsheets is concerned. For those who might say I don't know what I'm talking about you need only read my "bio" at the top of this blog.

As one of my cuz'ins always says "this too shall pass".

After all, and without cheating and looking it up, how many of you can remember why Rick Sanchez was dropped by CNN. And don't believe all the left-wing media/blog crap either.

Why So Pissed At Kirk Cameron

Quotes from Piers Morgan interview:

"I think that it's unnatural. I think that it's detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization."

"Marriage is almost as old as dirt, and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve. One man, one woman for life till death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don't think anyone else should either. So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don't."

"As I look around I get this sinking feeling that we’re off track, that there’s something sick in the soul of our country, I examine the fruit that’s hanging on the tree of America and I can see that it’s rotting. And that concerns me deeply."

And of course that has set off a firestorm within de gay with GLAAD leading the charge ready to burn Cameron at the stake. To wit I ask where was everybody back in 2008 when Cameron did the interview below with Bill O'Reilly. I know de gay dosen't watch FOX News.
