Gay Men Arrested On Ship

As my two buddies over at Best Gay Travel Guide would tell you when traveling to other countries you need to make yourself aware of what goes and what is taboo when it comes to sodomy laws.

Two men from California are learning that the hard way as GayStarNews is reporting using several sources. The two men were arrested Wednesday after being seen by someone from the dock where the ship they were on, a Celebrity Summit cruise ship, was docked and the individual alleges the two men were engaged in sex.

John Robert Hart and Dennis Jay Mayer both in their 40's were arrested on the ship by local authorities and will appear in court today on charges of suspicion of indecent exposure and sodomy. The ship had been docked in the Caribbean country of Dominica which outlaws sex among gays.

The cruise which had been organized by the gay travel company Atlantis Events in West Hollywood, CA warns all travelers of potential sodomy laws which are in effect in the various countries their planned cruises take travelers.

The penalty in Dominica for same-sex sexual activity is up to 10 years in prison.

In an update from one of the sources GayStarNews used in doing their article, Dominican News Online, the website reported the charge of "buggery" (sodomy) would be dropped and they had been charged with indecent exposure. The sodomy charge was dropped because as Police Chief Cyrille Carrette told the website Wednesday evening, that charge will take too long to expedite, hence the men will only be charged with indecent exposure.

The ship sailed on without the two men to continue the scheduled cruise.

If found guilty of the indecent exposure charge they could be fined $370 each and could face up to six months in prison according to a report by the Associated Press via The Washington Post.

In the latest update the two men pleaded guilty this morning to the charge of indecent exposure and were fined about $900 and were expected to be released today.

One final note on this topic as now an interview with Hart and Mayer has become available as of Friday 3/23/12 (video may be pulled at some point for copyright infringement) and this is my opine but also shared by others who have sent me email or other comments I have seen, these two gents really can't play the anti-gay card (even as others are doing in support) as they knew the "rules" of the country they were visiting and being on board a ship does not fore go those rules as the ship they are on sits in the water of Dominica. Whether they were engaged in sexual activity or just standing butt naked for all to see on the dock is, in my less than humble opinion, just dumbass stupid given the potential consequences.

He Dances Like An Egyptian

Michael-In-Norfolk has the background on this and I know it's not polite to laugh at other's misadventures in life but when I saw the video (at the link), sorry boys and girls I couldn't help myself.

Yep Jason Russell the promoter of Kony 2012 has become .. ahem .. arrears with de police in the land of fruits and nuts sunny California for his parading around in de buff and others things which aren't supposed to be displayed in public.

Many are saying that Russell is a closeted gay hypersurpressed by conservative religion and his marriage.

Speculation at best, but if nothing else Russell certainly can be the life of any party and damn can he dance like an Egyptian.

Lesson to be learned do this in San Francisco or New York where no one notices.

Dharun Ravi Guilty Of Bias

Dharun Ravi was all smiles when he sat at the defense table just before noon today when the jurors entered the courtroom after reaching a verdict in Ravi's trial of spying on Rutgers roommate Tyler Clementi with a webcam and posting the video of a sexual encounter for others to see.

Subsequently Clementi committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington Bridge in New York City on September 22, 2010.

Ravi's smile and somewhat smugness changed to a look of disbelief as the jury forewoman delivered guilty verdicts on 15 felony counts charged against Ravi. Others in the media have said Ravi showed no emotion but this writer had a different impression of Ravi's change in demeanor as the guilty verdicts were read off one by one. Clementi's parents who were also in the courtroom showed emotions of relief for their dead son Tyler as the verdicts were given, to the point where Clementi's father who was writing down and keeping track of the verdicts took off his glasses and wiped tears from his eye.

The guilty verdicts included bias intimidation, witness tampering, invasion of privacy, hindering apprehension and tampering with physical evidence. The key verdict(s) for members of the LGBT community are the guilty verdicts regarding bias or a perceived "hate crime".

Ravi could spend 10 years in a federal prison although talking heads said on various TV programs after the verdict he would likely spend three years in prison because he had a "clean record" prior to the charges brought against him. Because Ravi was born in India he could, although unlikely be deported back to his native country. Ravi declined a prosecution offer to plead guilty which would have afforded Ravi no jail time.

Some LGBT pundits have written in previous days this trial does little to advance LGBT causes, others will herald the verdicts for the cause against anti-gay bullying and "gay hate crimes'.

There are no winners in this case. Only losers. The biggest of which is Tyler Clementi and his family after his personal life was invaded by another person.

GLAAD's CAP Epic #FAILure

Less than 24 hours after GLAAD announced its CAP blacklist of who shouldn't be allowed to opine in print, radio or on TV it has already become a failure.

This morning in the latter part of the 7 AM hour of Starting Point with Soledad O'Brien, she had on to talk politics Tony Perkins one of GLAAD's Most Wanted anti-gay folks.

Oops ... guess CNN and Soledad didn't get the memo.

GLAAD's narcissistic POV that the Media will pay attention to them and use GLAAD's background blacklist as a guide as to who should not be given a talking head platform because the Media at large is deaf, dumb and stupid because they don't know who they are allowing to opine is like telling a cow not to poop when nature calls.
