The fella who was Elmo on Sesame Street is making news again today.
This posting isn't about the news nor him but about using some common sense in life when it comes to LGBT youth.
I'm not a trusting soul by nature, I choose my "friends" carefully before adding them into my life either on a simple or more meaningful basis.
I've seen too many others get "burned" through "friendships" and have learned over the course of my life lessons of their mistakes.
So I would imagine over the years many have called me friendly but aloof for the most part and that is fine with me.
In today's world of social media folks need to be even more careful.
I have denied access to my FB to potential "friends" who I feel are to young (less than college age), in fact I haven't "friended" any of my "fourth-generation" cousins because a great deal of my postings and links to articles and photos are "for mature audiences" and/or in the case of LGBT links those who are mature enough to understand the content.
This is the world we find ourselves in today.
When I was a kid it was great (and safe in my case) to have an adult mentor. That can't always be said today.
Friending a youth today, even with the best of intentions, can become a double-edged sword if that youth suddenly turns on his/her mentor, which may or may not be the case with the Elmo actor.
One dosen't have to be high-profile to have their world turned upside down by accusations, false or true.
But I for one don't even go near the water to find out. The shame of that with so many LGBT youth being confused about where they are in life, they have one less mentor who would be just that, a mentor who would try to help rather than take advantage.

Pope Francis I And de Gay Detractors
Argentine Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, now Pope Francis I hadn't been the newly elected Pope an hour when LGBT bloggers, groups and other self-appointed important voices were attacking him.
This continuing attack against the Roman Catholic Church, of which this writer is not a member, is getting almost as old as the Church itself which was started back in the 2nd Century.
Those who find fault with the Church and its doctrine on homosexuality, birth control, abortion and the place of women continue to bang their collective heads against the oak doors of the Church and The Vatican.
Most vocal of course are those who are or were followers of the faith.
There is a very simple solution for the detractors to follow.
Leave the Church if you can't abide by its rules of Faith.
No one presuming you're an adult forces you to be Roman Catholic. Find another Faith, more progressive to you're liking.
Those not of the Faith, particularly the Atheist faggots just need to stifle.
No matter how much you huff and puff and try to blow the doors down it just isn't going to happen.
I've always believed that a Church is not of brick and mortar but what one carries in the heart and spiritual belief..
I for one wish only the best for this humble man who now finds himself the religious leader of many around the world.
Perhaps, though unlikely, his and the Church's LGBT detractors can find some humility as is Pope Francis I.

Boomer Memories Queering Your TV
A blog I came across a few weeks ago is a must read for gay and bi boomers as it takes a look back at TV programs which not intentionally geared toward de gay made puberty a lot more interesting before the collective we had any idea which side(s) of the road we were headed.
The blog Boomer Beefcake and Bonding goes into great detail outlining TV programs and actors, young and old, and how subtle and sometimes otherwise led fellas to .. well sometimes have wet dreams and then some.
The blog is not explicit in nature so if you're looking for that kind of material .. forget about it.
It takes a sentimental stroll down memory lane through TV-land from Batman to Flipper to Dr. Kildare and everything in between.
The blog is written by author Jeffery P. Dennis who has written several books and articles on the queering of American culture through the media and movies.
The blog along with the postings is put into actor categories so one can look up their favorite actor as written within the blog.
Another fun blog which looks at all things queer in movies and the media is Movie Dearest written by Kirby who along with the aforementioned puts out four other blogs about de gay.
So if you're looking to add some new blogs to your favorites check out the two mentioned above.
In the immortal words of Robin "Holy stuffed jockstrap Batman".

Quinn The Dyke Who Would Be King
The often caustic Councilwoman Christine Quinn has thrown her thorny crown into the New York City mayoral race.
Being in Connecticut frankly I could careless about NYC politics but there are those who are not so great fans of Quinn particularly in the Rainbow World.
NG Blog based in the boroughs of Gotham has an interesting take on this bid for Gracie Mansion.
While current mayor and billionaire Mike Bloomberg seems more concerned about being guardian and parent to all in Hitler like fashion and tries to control the life of those who live in Gotham in example proclaiming how much soda one can intake, will her Dykeness also try to control the lives of LGBTs for instance how much mascara dykes can wear and color coordination of clothing for gay men. Will the T have to wear designer jockstraps while the Bi are exiled to New Jersey ?
Only time will tell, but if you believe this broad can become the Mayor of Gotham then I have a bridge for you to buy in Brooklyn.
